It’s New Year’s Day and maybe I am a little melancholy because the years are starting to go by so quickly. Another funeral in our family is tomorrow. The loss of a cousin and two cousins’ husbands make us aware of our mortality, so sometimes it is hard to remain positive about one year passing and another arriving. I can’t help but think about what is ahead. But then, what good does it do anyone to be sad about aging and the future. That’s the reason for continuing to make New Year’s Resolutions-to continue moving forward and enjoying every minute of life, to see what good we can accomplish for others, to search for joy in every tiny aspect of life, to be grateful for every small step toward the future.
So what are your New Year’s Resolutions? I will tell you one of mine. I will continue to write in my Joy Journal every day, so that I can revel in every little joy of each day. Oh, yes, I must add another one: I will also write every day of my gratitude and I will express my gratitude to others because it helps me overcome those times when I feel out of sorts with the world.
A new year equals a chance to find new ways of finding joy and gratitude. I hope you feel the same!
