My Tai Chi instructor is 78 years old and an inspiration. My daughter told me one day that I should write about him for my blog. Of course, I then realized that he was a perfect example of what my blog is about.
Jack teaches Tai Chi twice a week at the Senior Center.
He started taking Tai Chi classes when he lived in North Carolina because he thought it would be fun. He took the beginner class twice before moving on to the next level. That shows how dedicated he is to learning and teaching Tai Chi correctly. .
Jack is a very patient teacher and a very thorough instructor. Those of us in his class enjoy our sessions because he makes it fun for us. He jokingly critiques our performances, so we can continue to improve. He encourages us to learn to be teachers as well as students. For us, it’s a social time as well as class time because Jack keeps the atmosphere light hearted.
Jack’s stamina is remarkable. He walks everywhere- sometimes to the Senior Center, which is across town from where he lives. Some days he walks 3 miles. Other days he walks 6-10 miles. On Sunday, he will stop at whichever church is nearest and attend services there.
Jack has always played all kinds of sports because he enjoys them and has fun.
Jack retired in 1995, and he has been having fun ever since. I’m glad that he shares that fun-loving spirit with us.

Would love to be in shape like that….guess I would need to get out of this recliner. Oh well.
