Time Flies

I think we are all still trying to take it in-another generation in our family has graduated from high school. My sister’s beautiful, smart, and always smiling granddaughter graduated Friday night. She has wonderful plans for her future:  college to get a nursing degree. We are all so proud of her.

I think as we watched the Senior class of 2017 graduate and state their plans for the future, we all wished them the best and wished for their dreams to come true. I’m sure we also recalled our own graduation dreams from so long ago and that wonderful, exciting feeling of finishing high school and being  “a grownup “.  Later, the nervousness will come about making your future plans come true.

As I watched I also remembered watching my daughters graduate and the pride I had in them. My pride continues as they continue their journey through life.

As I watched and listened Friday night, I thought what would be my words for this year’s graduating class. Here are a few thoughts.

Life can seem hard and unfair at times. No matter what, try not to despair. Try to find the joy and try to keep a sense of awe in your life. Remember your life is important to others. If one dream doesn’t work out, find another. As you age, try to stay optimistic and try not to become a cynic. There is nothing wrong with maintaining a childlike joy in your being.

Lastly, if you get knocked down, jump back up with new insights not bitterness.

My dear niece, always remember your family loves you and will always be here for you. You are a delight to all of us.
