He’s Just Old

Disclaimer: I did not vote for Trump and I do not like him. However, I do have respect for the office of President of the United States.

My grandfather used to say this after he retired: I don’t have to worry about what I do or say because people just say, “He’s old.”  Back then I thought it was a cutesy saying. No longer do I think so, especially since we have the oldest (70) President that’s ever been inaugurated.

In an earlier blog, called News Flash!, I wrote this quote from http://www.p2016.org
“Age is a fair topic for discussion, but as long as a candidate is in good health, up to the job, and has a good running mate as back up, the real question isn’t his or her age, but the experience he or she would bring to the job, his or her leadership skills, temperament, common sense and problem-solving ability.”

Ask yourself, does this describe our 70 year old President?

Mr. President, please don’t make our 70s and beyond population look bad and have anyone say, He’s acting that way because he’s old. You have a great opportunity to represent our generation.

We are the same generation. I am a tiny bit older than our president and I grew up learning to be polite, learning to be considerate, willing to compromise by looking at both sides of a problem, and being respectful of others. Those in political office should have these qualities and they should strive to make our country and our world a better place.

All Americans should feel this way. We are a beacon to the rest of the world. Let’s recommit to these ideals and continue to keep our country great.

  1. I did not vote for our president either. He definitely could be more subtle and aware that he does not represent the Republican Party but the populace of the United States. I wonder what is the problem with our Comgress because they are not old.
