Several years ago I was privileged to meet a World War II veteran. He was in his 90’s at the time. To me he was amazing and he had led an amazing life.
To share his story I am borrowing from an article written by Phil Scott on February 1, 2017. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2017/february/pilot/bob-goode
Bob wanted to become a pilot during WWII, but he couldn’t because he was color blind. Instead he became a aircraft mechanic. After the war, he got his pilots certification. He went on to build his own airstrip on his property. Later, at 92, he bought a motor glider and became a glider pilot. How is that for inspiration!
